Since 2014, The Bunker (formerly The Boulder Bunker) has been running a highly successful youth training programme in the Torbay area. Our success is measured not just in climbing achievements, but in the holistic development of our young participants:

Our Unique 8-Level Training System

We've developed a custom 8-level syllabus, each level named after famous mountain ranges, to provide a clear progression path for our young climbers:

  1. Rockies: Introduction to basic climbing movements and safety
  2. Alps: Developing fundamental techniques and body awareness
  3. Andes: Enhancing strength and problem-solving skills
  4. Urals: Focusing on endurance and route reading
  5. Sierra Nevada: Introducing advanced techniques and mental strategies
  6. Caucasus: Refining skills and tackling more challenging routes
  7. Himalayas - Base Camp: Mastery of complex routes and personal climbing style
  8. Himalayas: Peak performance and advanced competition skills

What We Teach

In a group setting, youth aged 6-18 are mentored in the following areas:

  • Proper warm-up techniques and body mobilisation
  • Fundamental movements using basic exercises
  • Agility, speed, and coordination drills
  • Safety procedures around equipment
  • Teamwork and spotting techniques
